Captain Thomas

Sailed on the East Coast of the United States as a child

1990-94: Owned  16’ 100HP Outboard, navigated on the Hudson River , Yonkers – South to NY Harbor, North to Newburg.

1994-2003: 22’ Grady White 250 hp on the Hudson River.  Waters of NY Harbor, Harlem & East Rivers, LI Sound.

November 1998 certificate in Power Boating in Florida on a 32’ Grand Banks.

1999: Bare-Boat Charter Virgin Islands: 36’ Twin-engine Grand Banks: St. Thomas, St. John, Tortola, Virgin Gorda etc.

Summer 2013 purchased a 34’ Marine Trader, Trawler on Lake Champlain.

Sailing 2011-Present: 

Member and participant, Mamaroneck Frostbite Association – one-design racing program for Dyer Dhows November through April.

Summers 2013-Present Racing Crew Sonar 22feet (7 meters) Manhassett Bay Yacht Basin. 

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonar_(keelboat)) in one-design race series. Team had multiple firsts and as of August is second in fleet standings.

Summers 2018-Present Racing Crew Sonar at Noroton YC, CT.   Nation's most competitive Sonar racing fleet with multiple world champions competing.  Won Tappan Zee Regatta 4 years in a row 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019.

Participated in Sonar Worlds competition, Lake Sunapee, NH, 2022.

Sold Marine Trader Trawler 2020, acquired 20' Eastern Center-console skiff, 90HP outboard.

June 2022, crewed on delivery voyage from Tortola, BVI to Newport RI.  Completed the 1500 mile journey in ten days aboard Sea Pearl, 54-foot Hylas.  3 other crew members + professional captain Marcus Collerton.

Boatbuilding:

Constructed 3 wooden boats: 12’Sassafras lapstrake canoe; 18’ Annapolis Wherry and

19.5’ Bartender

Training/Certifications

BoatUS Boating safety certification (NY State) completed March 2023.

First mate Bettina:

Spent 17 summers on a 17’ Chris Craft in the Mediterranean

Took a sailing class in Turkey on Hobby cats

Navigated as first mate for three years on a 22’ Grady White on the Hudson River

Obtained in November 1998 a certificate in Power Boating in Florida on a 32’ Grand Banks

Often brings our 34" boat into the harbor, otherwise is first mate.

Operates solo our new 20' Eastern center console.

Recipient of Boat US' Certificate in acknowledgement of successful completion of the Boat US Foundation's Online Boating Safety Course.
